Customize your public website

Every HOA on Fourplex already has a public page at <your-hoa>.hoasite.org. That page satisfies Stripe's business-website requirement automatically. This article covers the optional customization layer — a welcome message, FAQ, and meeting notices — for boards that want a more polished public presence or need to surface meeting notices publicly.

If you only need the auto-generated Stripe page and never open Settings → Website, nothing changes for your community. See Your HOA's public website for how the baseline page works.

How do I edit my public website?

1. Open Settings in the sidebar and choose the Website tab (or go to /settings/website).
2. Your generated website URL is shown at the top of the page. Click View site to open <your-hoa>.hoasite.org in a new tab.
3. Turn on Publish custom content to your public website when you are ready to replace the default boilerplate with your own copy.
4. Fill in the fields you want visitors to see:
   • Tagline — a short line under your community name
   • Welcome — a plain-text introduction (no HTML)
   • FAQ — optional question-and-answer pairs
   • Contact note — a short note in the Contact section
5. Before your first publish, read and accept the acceptable-use terms (linked on the form). You must accept the current version before custom content can go live.
6. Click Save. Changes appear on your public site immediately — there is no separate publish step.

Can I disable the Fourplex-generated page?

Yes, if your HOA already has its own website or social-media page. On Settings → Website, enter your URL, read the Stripe warning, confirm you understand the requirement, and click Disable generated site.

Stripe still requires a business website for dues and utility collection. Disabling the generated page does not remove that requirement — you must provide your own URL and ensure it is saved in your Stripe account setup (Dues → Settings). Without a valid business website on file, payment collection may be interrupted.

When disabled, <your-hoa>.hoasite.org returns a not-found page. You can Re-enable generated site at any time to switch Stripe back to the Fourplex URL.

How do I show a meeting notice on the public website?

Meeting notices are not copied automatically. You choose which meetings appear:

1. When creating or editing a meeting, find Show on public website (Show this meeting's notice on your public website).
2. Turn the toggle on for meetings you want listed in the Notices & Meetings section of your public page.
3. Save the meeting.

Only upcoming meetings that are noticed or scheduled appear publicly. Draft or cancelled meetings never show, even if the toggle is on. Past meetings drop off the list automatically.

Make sure Show notices on public website is enabled in Settings → Website so the Notices section is visible.

What does Member Login do?

The Member Login button on your public page always links to the Fourplex app sign-in. After logging in, members land in the resident portal (/portal) — the password-protected area for documents, dues, and other private information.

Official records (governing documents, budgets, insurance, and similar) stay in the portal. The public website only shows the fields you explicitly edit plus any meeting notices you whitelist. This keeps sensitive information off the open web.

What if my custom content disappears?

If your customized sections vanish and the page reverts to the default Stripe boilerplate, a platform administrator may have temporarily disabled custom content for policy reasons. Your saved text is preserved. Contact Fourplex support or check your email for a notice from us. Once restored, your custom content returns without re-entering it.

Common questions

Is the public site searchable?

The default auto-generated page tells search engines not to index it. Once you publish custom content and your site is not under moderation, search engines may index your page. See Your HOA's public website for how the baseline page behaves.

Do I have to customize the site?

No. Customization is optional. Communities that never edit Settings → Website keep today's automatic boilerplate.

Who is responsible for compliance with state website laws?

Fourplex provides the tools; your board remains responsible for what you publish and for meeting any state-specific website requirements that apply to your community.
