Configure your HOA and account preferences

Where is Settings?

Settings lives in the sidebar, under the Settings link. Only board members (President, Treasurer, Secretary) see this link. If you are a regular resident, you do not have a Settings entry — your personal account pages are available from the avatar in the top-right corner instead.

What tabs are in Settings?

Settings is a three-tab page:

  • Organization — HOA name, mailing address, unit count, formation date, fiscal year start month, quorum percentage, Secretary of State registration date, and HOA logo (displayed on dues invoices and receipts).
  • Communication — The HOA email address (slug) and your personal forwarding toggle for inbound HOA emails.
  • Dues — HOA dues schedule, per-unit overrides, Stripe Connect setup for accepting payments, and HOA bank account linking for tracking incoming and outgoing transactions.

All three tabs are visible to every board role (President, Treasurer, Secretary). Changes take effect immediately after saving.

Where do I find personal account settings?

Personal account settings — your profile and security — are in the topbar avatar menu, not in the Settings sidebar.

  1. Click your avatar in the top-right corner of any page.
  2. Choose Your profile to update your name, phone number, mailing address, and emergency contact.
  3. Choose Security to manage two-factor authentication (MFA).
  4. Choose Sign out to end your session.

This applies to all members, including board members. Your profile is yours — it does not require a board role to access.

Stripe Connect is required before the HOA can collect dues payments from members. HOA bank account linking is optional but recommended for transaction tracking.

  1. Go to Dues → Settings.
  2. In the Stripe Connect section, click Start setup and complete the Stripe onboarding flow. You will need your HOA's tax ID (EIN or SSN), bank details, and contact information.
  3. Once Stripe Connect is active, return to Dues → Settings to configure the dues schedule: amount per unit, due day of month, and grace period.
  4. To link the HOA bank account for transaction tracking, click Connect bank account in the Bank Tracking section. This uses Stripe Financial Connections and does not give Fourplex the ability to move money — it is read-only access for balance and transaction visibility.

Where do I manage my own dues and payment method?

Your personal dues and payment method are in the Billing page, accessible from the sidebar.

The top of the Billing page shows:

  • Your dues — your current balance, payment history, and autopay status.
  • Your payment method — the card or bank account on file for autopay.

This section is the same for all members, including board members. If you are on the board, you will also see a Manage HOA dues section below your personal section, which shows the HOA-wide assessment summary and member payment statuses.

How do I add the HOA logo to invoices?

  1. Go to Settings → Organization.
  2. Scroll to the HOA Logo section.
  3. Click Upload and choose a PNG, JPG, WebP, or SVG file (max 2 MB).
  4. The logo will appear in the preview immediately. Click Save to apply changes.

The logo is displayed on all future dues invoices and receipts sent to members. It also appears in your HOA's Stripe billing profile. To remove the logo, click Remove next to the existing logo preview.

Only one logo can be set at a time. Uploading a new image replaces the previous one.


What email appears on dues invoices and receipts?

  1. Go to Settings → Organization.
  2. Find the Communication tab if you need to confirm your HOA inbox address.

Fourplex automatically uses your HOA inbox address on dues invoices and receipts so members know where to send billing questions. This is the same shared HOA email shown in the Communication tab.


Common questions

I am a board member. Why don't I see Settings in the sidebar?

Make sure you are signed in to the correct account. Settings is only visible to members with the President, Treasurer, or Secretary role. If your role is "Member" or "Owner," you will not see Settings — ask your HOA president to update your role if needed.

I updated my profile but I don't see the changes in the member list.

Profile updates (name, phone) are reflected immediately for other members. If you do not see the change, try refreshing the page. Mailing address and emergency contact are private — they are not shown to other members.

The Dues tab says Stripe Connect is required. What does that mean?

The HOA must complete Stripe Connect onboarding before members can pay dues through Fourplex. The President or Treasurer needs to go to Dues → Settings and complete the setup. Until then, members cannot enroll in autopay or make payments through the app.

What happens when I change the HOA email slug?

The old slug continues to receive email for a transition period before it is released. Once the transition window closes, emails sent to the old address will not be delivered. Update any external correspondents with the new address promptly.

Banking settings

Use Settings → Banking to link up to five HOA bank accounts for read-only balances and transactions. This setup is separate from Dues → Settings, where the HOA configures Stripe payouts for collecting dues.

After linking accounts, board members can:

  • assign each account as operating, reserve, or other
  • refresh balances from Stripe
  • disconnect an account while preserving historical transactions
  • see whether an account has stale sync data

Stripe requires a separate authorization for dues collection and bank data. Completing one setup does not automatically complete the other.
